You need a band that is professional in their approach, reliable, energetic and above all, entertaining.
With the diverse age group of a wedding celebration, a broad mix of music is required to entertain everyone but not dwell on one particular genre or type of music.
As you will see from our song list here we offer a selection of music suitable to just about every age group or function, and with 4 lead vocalists, there is an impressive vocal stamp on every song.
Your First Dance
Your first dance is an important choice. If at all possible we would like to perform it live for you - even if it is not currently in our repertoire. However, if you would prefer it played on CD we will facilitate.
If you would like us to listen to your song with a view to performing it, we would need the CD at least 8 weeks before your wedding. This is to facilitate rehearsals and requests from other couples.
On The Night
The band play for 3 hours which includes a 20 minute break while your guests are served tea/coffee and finger food. We will liaise with the DJ (whether booked through us or you) to ensure a seamless transition.
Our approach to any performance where dancing is involved, is to provide continuous sets of music for about 20-30 minutes to ensure everyone stays on the floor. As the set builds you will find that while some guests may wish to sit for a few moments others who are just getting started will quickly replace them. A short slow set will then follow to let everyone catch his or her breath!
Couples are usually curious as to how the timeline works at a wedding reception. As an example, under normal circumstances where music stops at 2am (most hotels request that music finishes at this time), the band would play from 9pm - Midnight (3 hours) and the DJ then playing until 2am (2 hours).
At this point in time however, you may not be sure of the exact times of your wedding so we will finalise this with you closer to the time.
We can provide a DJ service. They will take requests for any songs all night long. If booked through us we guarantee that the DJ will set up with us at room changeover (Just after dinner) and thus avoiding emergency exits opening toward the end of the bands set to allow for the DJ to bring in his gear. Alternatively if you've a preference for your own DJ that’s absolutely fine also we'll liaise with him/her in plenty of time to ensure continuity of the party atmosphere. So basically don't worry about anything we'll look after it. You just decide your preference!
DAKOTA have state of the art sound and lighting equipment which can cater for any hotel function room or event centre capable of holding up to a maximum of 400 guests. If your event is outdoors we can cater for that too but there may be an extra charge depending on the venue
